A Message
from Cullie Tarleton...

I am grateful to the citizens of Ashe and Watauga Counties for the privilege of representing you in the North Carolina State House. I am equally excited to be a candidate for re-election. With our economy in the shape it’s in, there’s lots of work to do and I’m up to the task.

I had a good and effective first session and am grateful to Speaker Hackney for giving me what I consider to be great committee assignments. I currently serve on eight standing committees plus several joint study commissions. Through these committees such as Education and Appropriations, I was able to contribute to a budget that provides several benefits to teachers, farmers, the elderly, our children and students. My priorities continue to be the economy, education, healthcare and transportation.

I am a person of deep faith with strong family values. Sylvia and I have been married almost 49 years. We have three adult children and six grandchildren. They have all been a blessing to us. Sylvia and I are members of Rumble Memorial Presbyterian Church in Blowing Rock and I am a former Session member.

I’m a retired businessman. Sylvia is a retired public school teacher. I am a native North Carolinian having grown up on a small farm in Union County, in a community much like the many communities you find here in Ashe and Watauga. We have lived here full time for several years. This is our home. My rural raising and business background gives me a clear understanding on the issues we face here in the high country.

I look forward to returning to Raleigh so that I can continue to serve the citizens of Ashe and Watauga as well as all the people of our great state.

Thank you again for allowing me to be Your Voice in Raleigh. I ask for your vote in November.

Thank you,
Cullie Tarleton

“We are very fortunate to have Cullie Tarleton representing Watauga County, the home of Appalachian State University. His knowledge of our issues and his unwavering support of education and business enables us to continue to meet the needs of our citizens, to educate our children, and to provide jobs for the future.”
